I'm Going To Get To It Sometime....
I've been busy. I know I haven't blogged for a very long time and quite frankly, I don't see it happening anytime soon. I need to add pics from Christmas, but other than that I just go to school and study. I'm lame like that.

Roommate Christmas
Living the Dream....
I lived the dream. Thursday December 18,2008 I lived it. SNOW DAY!!! Yes, I had a snow day in Las Vegas. I was really living the dream when it cancelled two finals I had scheduled for that day.
My roommates Lisa and Katie and my neighbor Ashlee are all teachers and were able to participate in this snow day with me. We started off the day by a big omelet breakfast.
Lisa and I continued the snow day by doing our christmas shopping. I even bought Lisa's while she was with me and she didn't even know it. We became "separated" in the store I ran grabbed what I was getting her went and checked out, put it in the car and came back in before she found me. I was very sneaky.

Have I Ever Told You I Have a Freakishly Long Torso?
I have a freakishly long torso. It's a fact and to prove this fact I have included as Exhibit A and Exhibit B pictures. This is me and my roommate Lisa. We are the same height as shown in Exhibit A. Exhibit B shows me and Lisa sitting against our kitchen wall. This freakishly long torso of mine has robbed me, at times, of comfort. I, for instance, cannot sit upright in the backseat of a Toyota Camera or Honda Accord. I have tried it is not comfortable. I also have to buy extra long shirts. I guess it is a curse that I must bear...
An Awesome Way to Start the Morning
Me and Lisa went on a bike ride on the Railtrail in Boulder City. It was 7 miles round trip and we started at Lake Mead and ended at the Hoover Dam. It was so beautiful to ride along the lake, through tunnels and end with a walk across the Hoover Dam. We plan on doing it every Saturday morning. Here's some pic, don't mind my double chin in the one where I'm in Nevada and Lisa is in Arizona.

Some Descriptions of Me....
When I was working in Quality Management at McKay Julie McIntire described me in a phrase...."you are a mass of contradictions." I thought it was a good description and didn't realize how true it was until tonight when a friend told me a girl in the ward called me "the most reverent irreverent person I've met." I am perfectly happy with those descriptions.

Joni and Weston Came To Visit
Ok so I was just a perk that came with their trip to Vegas. We had fun. I was able to spend Saturday with them. We went out to Hoover Dam, walked part of the rail trail around Lake Mead, and ate Indian food from India Palace. I had a great time and loved having them here. Their friends Ryan and Heidi Spendlove also came.
This Is One Of The Coolest Things I Own...
I love accessories: purses, jewelry, shoes.... and while I was home in October my Grandma Jean gave me this purse. Now this is no ordinary purse. My Great Aunt Annie made this purse probably 30 years ago. I'll have to get a better timeline from my Grandma. I'm guessing at least 30 years, because I believe Aunt Annie has been dead for 20. I love this purse.

This May Be Bad....
So I spent a day shadowing the coroner for Las Vegas (who is also my pathology professor). I had an AWESOME time!!! That's the part I think is bad....I had a good time at the coroner's ofifice. Who says that???
We started the day off at the office in the morning meeting. They go over all the bodies they received the night before and who's assigned to do the autopsy. Then we had to be at the court for Simms to testify in a serial murder trial. A guy killed 3 women before they caught him. I sat in the courtroom and heard opening arguments and then Simms testimony. They're high tech here in Vegas. He has a screen in front of him that he draws on like the sports broadcasters do. He points out findings on the pictures of the bodies to the jurors. It was so interesting.
After the courthouse we went back to the office to start our autopsy. We only had one we were assigned so I was a little disappointed, but I shouldn't have been. It was a good one to have. He was a 36 y/o male that didn't show up for work and was found dead in his apartment. He had blood coming from his mouth and nose and was found with darvocet around him. Before we did the autopsy we discussed possible differentials for the patient. Mainly GI problems like an ulcer, varices, Mallory-Weiss tear.... Then we started our external exam of the body. We found that he had a scratch/cut on his right arm, a bruise on his LLQ, and a cut on his right anterior superior thorax. We had the body x-rayed without significant findings. Then we opened him up. He had a HUGE hemothorax. We ladeled 1.5 LITERS of blood out of his pleural space and we found a wound in the lung that was 2 1/2 inches long. THE GUY WAS TOTALLY STABBED TO DEATH!!! And the scratch on his arm was probably a defensive wound. It was a cool case, totally unexpected.
I don't know if I could do forensic pathology as a career, but I want more exposure to it to decide. I'm going to try and do one of my 3rd year rotations in it. It was so cool.

I Love Sukkot Too!
For Sukkot I was able to go home for an entire week. I had so much fun. I was able to play with my niece Millie for 3 whole days I was home. We went to the library, the park, the duck pond, and the playland at McDonalds. Mom also planned a fun girls day for us which included lunch and pedicures. It was so cold though....it even snowed!
Here's a cute picture of us girls at lunch on our girls day out. Millie's face is so CUTE!!!
All of us girls got pedicures. It was my first pedicure and I loved it! I would love to make a habit of it.
Ok now the next picture may be a bit disturbing.....
I'm letting you know....it's not mine.
Here's the finished product....

Take the Quiz and Share Your Results!
This summer before school started I read the Twilight series. I actually enjoyed it and am not sure why. I am getting excited for the movie coming out and in my excitement I took this quiz to see which character I'm most like.....

I Love Rashashana!
One of the perks of going to a Jewish sponsored school is that I have all the Jewish holidays off. The month of October is really great. I only go to school twice a week for the month. This past weekend I went to San Diego with classmates. They are some really great people. I had a ton of fun and now I'm going to check out the residencies down there.
The Beach.... I Love the Beach!!!
I think that Monday September 29,2008 was probably in the top 10 of the best days of my life. I had an amazing day. I played beach volleyball for a couple hours, football for a bit, and then I surfed and boogie boarded. I loved it. It was so relaxing and so fun. We were on the South Mission Beach and I have decided that if I can I will buy a house there one day. I loved it....if I'm not being clear I'll say it again...I LOVED IT!!!
Church in San Diego, then breakfast in a bar???
Me and Brandon went to a ward in San Diego while we were there. I was so impressed with the ward. We had 6 people come up to us before church started to introduce themselves and talk to us. It was the most friendly ward I've ever been in. It was fast Sunday and I was amazed that when they bore their testimonies they actually did what you're supposed to do and testify of Christ. It was cool.
After, we were hungry and wanted some breakfast so we stopped down in Pacific Beach to eat. The place we found was called the Longboard Grill which was actually a bar. We were the only ones there in church attire.
Extraodinary Desserts....and they were.
While in San Diego we went to a place called Extraordinary Desserts. It was amazing, they had the most beautiful cakes I've seen.

I Spend A Lot Of Time Here
You may or may not have noticed how the background in the pants picture and the Miss Touro-Nevada picture are the same. It's because I spend a lot of time in that room. It's the fake doctor office rooms at school. During this year sometime we actually have trained medical actors come in and we act like we're actually doctors and do exams on them. The school even hires a company that comes and we do pelvic and rectal exams on these people. That's going to be strange. I may not be able to study in this room the same.

Whoops! Update
Rob went to the Jack in the Box where I called the man a ma'am and he said the man totally hit on him. We're finding a new Jack to go to.

Miss Touro-Nevada
So I am the current president of Women in Medicine here at Touro University Nevada and such as and like....I have had the idea that we should sponsor a "scholarship opportunity" (ok it's a pageant). I had shared this idea with Rob, Ira, and Derek and then showed up to school and found a sash and tiara on my chair. Special thanks to Kristine (Derek's wife) for making that happen.
Really there will be no "scholarship opportunity".

Whoops!
I went through a drive through window at the local Jack in the Box with friends the other day and the order taker was so cheerful and talkative asking how my day was and such that I really poured on my manners. I answered every question with "thank-you ma'am" or "yes ma'am". When we pulled up to the window it was a man. I hope he thought I was saying "yes man".
Sunday Evening Walks in Henderson
Me and Lisa went on a walk Sunday evening and it was BEAUTIFUL!!! The fact that we had clouds here in Vegas was amazing, but then LOOK at these clouds! If you can't tell it was a little windy too. Lisa's camera doesn't have a motion setting so we're a little blurry in some....sorry.
My Church Day Shirt
When I was back home I participated in a 5K sponsored by the local baptist church. In doing this I received the T-Shirt I am wearing. I have now decided that it is my Church Day Shirt and for the last 2 church days and the rest to come I will be wearing it. You can't beat a Run in the Son shirt on the Sabbath.
